It is easy to become concerned when there is so much negative press about financial institutions and their sub-prime loan problems. So it's important to know that not all banks are involved. I am proud to say that the Walden Savings Bank has never offered our customer any sort of sub-prime products and never will. As always we continue to be your financially safe and sound community bank.

Unfortunately, many lenders did choose to alter their sound, time tested rules of lending and focused only on what was good for their bottom line, not what was in their borrowers' best interest. Local community banks like Walden Savings Bank and others continued to service their customers with a conscience. Not everyone qualifies for a home mortgage and responsible institutions know when to say no.

Walden Savings Bank is doing business the same way we have for 136 years. We are competitive with our products but we are conservative in our approach. This translates into being a well capitalized bank, with capital being the best measure of a financial institution's strength and safety. This also allows us to be profitable and service our customers fairly.
